沙盒堡垒战争Mac版游戏共设自由模式、休闲模式以及难度较大的生存模式，玩家可使用超过30种建筑模块，16款高端的炮塔类型，以及发电机、深水炸弹、地雷阵、聚光灯、瞭望台等多种辅助建造工具。另外，游戏中设有昼夜交替周期，玩家要特别考虑到在夜间作战的特点，在建造炮塔时加入聚光灯等照明系统。
